This fanlisting is for the American tennis player, Andy Roddick. After he first burst onto the scene in 2001, Andy quickly became one of the rising stars in tennis, labelled as the next great American hope. In 2003, he won his only slam so far, the US Open, and reached the semi-finals at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, ending the year world number one, a position he held onto for 12 weeks. In the years since, he has reached at least one final of a slam each year, and has lost each time to his greatest rival in the game, Roger Federer, leading Andy to be labelled a one slam wonder.

Andy has been my absolute favourite tennis player for several years now. In 2001 I saw my first match of his, against Goran Ivanisevic at Wimbledon, and saw several of his matches over the next year and a bit but it was in 2003 that I really became a huge fan of his, after he reached the semi-finals in the Australian Open. I've followed his career very closely ever since and though he's had his ups and downs, I've really enjoyed watching him and his game. Except maybe on clay. I also love his press conferences and interviews, he always finds the right balance between serious, funny and intelligent, and often has valid points to make on the state of tennis at the moment. The day he retires is going to be an incredibly sad day for me, purely because I love watching him play. I hope it doesn't come for a long time.

The title '44% More Bendable' is from an article which appeared in an English newspaper, The Times, about how sports people have things about them which make them different, and they talked about the fact that Andy's back is 44% more bendable than other tennis players', and it's why he could serve so fast. I picked the name because I didn't want something boring and normal for Andy, because it doesn't fit him at all.

I've kind of found this comfort level with playing Davis Cup, whereas early on in my career I would be maybe get a little bit too overanxious. I feel comfortable playing for the U.S. flag now. Maybe that showed in the last couple of ties that I've been able to clinch.
